WILLIAMSTOWN, MA/GENEVA, NY (April 12-13, 2013) – The Vassar College men's tennis team picked up a 9-0 Liberty League road win over Hobart College Saturday after dropping a 9-0 decision at nationally fifth-ranked and regionally top-ranked Williams College on Friday evening.
Senior No. 5
Josh Kessler had the most convincing win against the Liberty League school Hobart. He defeated Luke Deluccia, 6-0, 6-0. He also teamed up with freshman
Christian Phelps in the No. 3 doubles spot, defeating Joseph Sanders and Ben Robinson, 8-4 for the biggest deficit in doubles play.
Vassar comes out of the weekend with an overall, 6-11 record and advance to 3-1 in League play. They will next travel to Hoboken, NJ to face the Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday, April 17 for a 4:00 pm match. Stevens is #13 in the Northeast Region while Vassar is #12.

Daniel Cooper managed a close, 7-6, 4-6, 10-4 win against Hobart's Michael Fields. He teamed with senior
Andrew Guzick in doubles for an 8-5 win over the pair of Bruce Grant and Fields. No. 1 Guzick later won a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Sam DeLuccia.
Guzick had a close singles match against the national powerhouse Williams on Friday. He was defeated, 6-4, 6-3 by Richard Meyer. He teamed with Cooper for another close loss to Meyer and Alex Schidlovsky. Despite the loss to the #5 Northeast Regionally Ranked pair, the not-yet-ranked team took the match to the distance, falling 9-8(7).

Nick Jasso fell to Felix Sun at the No. 2 spot of Williams, 6-4, 6-3. Sun is one of the three Regionally Ranked players at #14. The other Regionally Ranked Williams player to pick up a win in singles today was #21 Matt Micheli at the No. 3 spot over Cooper, 6-1, 6-2.
