POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (February 8, 2013) - The Vassar College men's tennis team's match against the United States Coast Guard Academy tomorrow has been cancelled until further notice due to the incoming weather, but the Brewers will still travel to West Point, NY to face Division I, Patriot League powerhouse Army on Sunday.

Vassar Notes: The Vassar College men's tennis team defeated Clark University, 7-2, opening their 2013 Spring Schedule on Saturday, February 2 on the Walker Field House courts. Seniors
Andrew Guzick and
Dan Freeman led the Brewers in doubles and singles. The pair defeated Clark's Diego Angel and Daniel Stein 8-4 in doubles, before turning around and defeating them in singles play. Guzick defeated Angel in the No. 1 spot 2-0 (6-1, 6-2) and Freeman beat Stein at the No. 2 spot after dropping the first set 6-4, but claiming both the second and third sets, 6-3.
Freshman
Daniel Cooper came up with a big win in singles play in the No. 4 spot. Cooper defeated Zack Goodstein 6-0, 6-1. He also teamed with senior
Nick Jasso in doubles for an 8-1 win over Goodstein and Antoine Martin. Guzick earned Liberty League Performer of the Week while Cooper earned Rookie of the Week.
Vassar Next Match: Vassar will next travel to Fredericksburg, VA for the Mary Washington Tournament on Saturday, February 16. The Brewers will face North Carolina Wesleyan at 9:00 am and University of Mary Washington at 3:00 pm.

Army Notes: Army claimed its first victory of the season with a 6-1 win over Oral Roberts on Saturday, February 2. Played at the University of Arksansas' Dills Indoor Tennis Facility, the Black Knights swept all three doubles matches before winning five of six singles matches in straight sets to even their season record at 1-1.
Army was without its top singles player, Asika Isoh, but cruised to the victory regardless. The Black Knights shifted their lineup up one to make up for Isoh's absence, as freshman Ben Davies saw his first collegiate dual-match action at No. 6 singles.
Army Next Match: Army will next host Fairfield and New Jersey Institute of Technology on February 22 at 5:00 and 7:00 pm.
