WEST POINT, NY (February 10, 2013) – The Vassar College men's tennis team went toe-to-toe with Division I Patriot League powerhouse Army, but fell 7-0 Sunday evening at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.

Nick Jasso paired with freshman
Daniel Cooper in a close, 8-6 doubles loss to Army No. 2 duo Peter Sienko and Henry Jang-Milsten. Jasso also had a close match in singles play against Caison Best, 6-2, 7-6(3).
Today's match gives the Brewers their first loss of the year (3-1) in dual match play. They will next travel to Fredericksburg, VA for the Mary Washington Tournament on Saturday, February 16. The Brewers square off with North Carolina Wesleyan College at 9:00 am and then the University of Mary Washington at 3:00 pm. Army (2-1) will next host Fairfield University, New Jersey Institute of Technology and Marist College on February 22-24.
"We got to play against their full, first lineup," head coach John Cox said. "Almost every one of our games went to duece, so we played really well against a very strong and experienced team."

Andrew Guzick fought a tough 6-4, 6-1 loss to Asika Isoh and freshman No. 5 Cooper fell to Rashad Shelton 6-3, 6-1.
"I was really pleased with how our guys stepped up and played," coach Cox said. "We were invited back to play them next year and I think this is a great learning and growing experience for us to attend early in our season."
