Men's Soccer Battles To 0-0 Liberty League Tie With Hobart

    GENEVA, NY (October 4, 2013) – The Vassar College men's soccer team tied 0-0 with Liberty League opponent Hobart College on Friday evening at Cozzens Field, making it the fifth time this season the Brewers have gone to extra periods and their third tie.

    Senior Ryan Grimme (Gahanna, OH/Gahanna Lincoln) recorded eight saves in goal compared to Statesmen keeper, Mike Lucas who stopped six. Junior Tom Wiechert (Dana Point, CA/San Clemente) led the offensive charge for the Brewers with six shots and one on goal.

    The Brewers and Statesmen were near equal in terms of physical play. Vassar recorded 17 fouls and Hobart committed 16. The Statesmen outshot Vassar, 23-18. Neither team could get a lock on the goal with the majority of their shots being off target.

    Hobart also held an 11-4 advantage in corner kicks over Vassar.

    The Brewers (5-3-3, 0-0-2 Liberty League) will next travel to Rochester Institute of Technology tomorrow for a 2:00 pm start. The Statesmen (5-4-1, 0-1-1 Liberty League) will next host Bard College at 2:00 pm tomorrow.
