MAHWAH, NJ (October 26, 2013) -- The Vassar College field hockey team got goals from three different players in blanking Ramapo College 3-0 Saturday afternoon in non-conference play.
The Brewers (11-5) wasted no time in getting on the board, opening the game's scoring in the ninth minute of the game on the fourth goal of the season from senior Liz Raskopf. Vassar would stay on the attack the rest of the half, but couldn't capitalize after outshooting Ramapo 9-0 in the first period.
The second half saw the game open up, as VC tallied the second goal just 3:37 into the second half as
Lauren Wiebe netted her 12th goal of the year unassisted. Vassar put the game away at 63:44 of the game, as senior
Tina Caso took a pass from
Dara Davis off of a penalty corner and beat the Roadrunner keeper for put a lid on the scoring.
Vassar outshot Ramapo 19-1 on the day, while earning all 16 penalty corners on the afternoon. Senior
Maggie Brelis and sophomore
Amreen Bhasin combined to earn the shutout, the fifth of the season for the Brewers. The 11 wins for Vassar are the second-most in school history.
The Brewers host the University of Scranton Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at Weinberg Field.
