SCHENECTADY, NY (October 18, 2013) – The Vassar College women's volleyball team hit just .019 Friday evening against Union College, dropping a Liberty League match in three sets from the Viniar Center.
The Brewers (15-13, 5-5 Liberty League) made things interesting in the opening set, leading for much of the early going. Union (16-7, 2-2 LL) tied the game at 12, and preceded to go on an 8-2 run to pull away. In the second set, the Dutchwomen hit at a .400 clip in rolling to a 2-0 match lead.
The final game saw the hosts open a 7-1 lead, though VC battled back to tie the set at nine. With the score 13 all, the hosts rattled over a 9-1 spurt to take control of that chapter, securing the match. The Brewers struggled offensively all night, finishing with just 23 kills on the night while erroring 21 times.
Junior
Taylor Mosley (Dallas, NY/Parish Episcopal School) was the lone Brewer in double-figures in kills, as she posted 10 to go with six digs. The outing was the 17
th time that the junior outside hitter has finished with double-digit kills, and she now has 327 on the season. Mosley is on pace to finish in the Top 10 for single-season kills.

Clara Cardillo (San Francisco, CA/Bay School of San Francisco) had five kills and was one of only two Brewers to hit positive Friday, while senior
Jessie Ditmore (Santa Barbara, CA/Laguna Blanca) added four kills and three digs. Freshman
Gabby Miller (Scottsdale, AZ/Horizon) and sophomore
Chloe Hallum (Olympia, WA/Olympia) each contributed 10 digs apiece, and senior setter
Rose Carman (Santa Cruz, CA/Santa Cruz) dished out 21 assists.
Union's Rachel Wyman had a match-high 11 kills on 19 attempts, as UC swung at a .370 percentage for the night. Lauren Woods had nine kills, Marissa Vollmer had 13 digs and Amanda Price and Mackenzie Westfall combined for 36 assists.
Currently, the Brewers have five league wins and are still trying to clinch a spot in the postseason Liberty League Tournament. Vassar is fourth in the league, four games ahead of both Skidmore College and Rochester Institute of Technology, the two teams VC will play tomorrow afternoon in action from Union College starting at noon.
