Men's Swimming and Diving Fall To Montclair State 126-92

Luc Amodio also took second in the 200 Yard IM (2:08.04).

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (January 23, 2013) – The Vassar College men's swimming a diving team fell to Montclair State University, 126-92, Wednesday evening in the Brewer's final home dual meet at Kresge Pool of the 2012-13 season.

Senior diver Simon Whitelaw swept the diving events, scoring a 232.80 on the 1-meter and a 215.10 on the 3-meter board. Sophomore Rory Moon was second in both events with a 190.35 on the 1-meter and a 185.85 on the 3-meter.

The Brewers will next travel to New York University on Saturday, January 26 for a 1:00 pm meet start. Vassar will host the Sprint Invitational on Saturday, February 9 at 1:00 pm after that. Montclair will next host Ramapo College on January 26 at 1:00 pm.

Sophomore Luc Amodio pulled away with a huge win in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 57.86. Sophomore Matt Weiss won the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:05.07 and was followed in second place by freshman Isaiah Hale with a time of 1:07.10.

The Vassar 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Amodio, freshman Greg Cristina, Hale and Mathúe Duhaney came from behind for the win with a time of 1:32.64.

Duhaney had a season-best performance in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a second place time of 22.80. His split on the 200 Free Relay was 22.46.

Sophomore Chuck Hermann offered considerable versatility this meet in the 100 Fly (1:01.67) and 200 IM (2:13.67) with strong performances third place finishes in both.
