POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (January 17, 2013) – The Vassar College men's basketball team will host two powerhouse teams this weekend in always-crucial Liberty League action. The Brewers first host Skidmore College and then Union College.

Vassar Notes: The Brewers (5-8, 1-3) fell to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Tuesday, 86-72. Vassar, at one point, was down by 25 points, 79-54 with 5:53 on the clock. The Brewers battled back to within 14 by the end of the game behind the career-high scoring of junior forward
John Donnelly. Donnelly came off the bench and scored a game-high 27 points in 33 minutes of play. Freshman guard
Erikson Wasyl hit the game's second highest score with a career-high 16 points.
The Brewer offense is averaging 62.8 points per game while the defense has only allowed 62.5 points per game. Donnelly leads the Brewers averaging 13.0 points per game and also grabs 6.2 rebounds per game. Sophomore forward
Alex Snyder averages 9.6 points per game and a team-high 10.8 rebounds per game.

Skidmore Notes: The Thoroughbreds (9-5, 3-2) defeated RIT, 83-60 last Saturday at home. Tanner Brooks went 8-15 from the floor and 6-9 from beyond the arc to lead Skidmore with 23 points.
Skidmore's offense is averaging 71.1 points per game while its defense is keeping opponents' scoring down to 66.1 points per game. Brooks leads the scoring effort with a 16.8 points per game average followed by Connor Merrill (14.2) and Aldin Medunjanin (13.9). Merrill pulls down the most rebounds per game (6.0) followed by Brooks (5.9).
Skidmore Next Game: After tomorrow's game, Skidmore will travel to Bard on Saturday, January 19 at 4:00 pm.

Union Notes: The Dutchmen (12-2, 4-1) defeated RPI, 90-72, on Saturday, January 12. Their only two loses this season have come from Hamilton College (73-67) during the Hamilton Thanksgiving Tournament and Skidmore (76-66) on Friday, January 11. Keven Donohue score 27 points against RPI, leading three other Dutchmen in double-digit scoring. Joe Mason recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 assists.
Union's offense is averaging 75.9 points per game while its defense is allowing only 62.9 points per game. Donohue is leading the Dutchmen with an impressive 17.2 points per game average and an 8.6 rebounds per game average. Mason follows in scoring with 16.8 points per game and Terell Winney averages 10.2 points per game.
Union Next Game: After Saturday's game, Union will host No. 1 Hobart College on January 22 at 8:00 pm.
