Men's Basketball Looks For Rebound Victory Tomorrow Against RPI

Junior forward and co-captain Evan Carberry pulled down 11 rebounds in the last meeting with RPI.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (January 14, 2013) – The Vassar College men's basketball team are looking for a win against high-scoring Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute tomorrow evening in an always-crucial, Liberty League matchup.

Vassar Notes: The Brewers (5-7, 1-2 Liberty League) fell to Clarkson University, 75-67 after coming back from a 42-27 halftime deficet to within four points. The Knights pulled away with a set of free throws. Junior forward John Donnelly had a team high 20 points. Sophomore guard Curtis Smith was perfect from beyond the arc, hitting 3-3 on 3-pointers and finishing with 17 points.

The Brewer offense is averaging 62.0 points per game while the defense has only allowed 60.6 points per game. Donnelly leads the Brewers averaging 11.8 points per game and also grabs 6.1 rebounds per game. Sophomore forward Alex Snyder averages 11.0 points per game and a team-high 11.7 rebounds per game.

Vassar Next Game: The Brewers will host Skidmore College on Friday, January 18 at 8:00 pm just to turn around and host Union College the next day at 4:00 pm..

RPI Notes: The Engineers (7-6, 2-2 Liberty League) had a weekend split against Rochester Institute of Technology and Union College. RPI broke 100 points in their 105-86 win over RIT last Friday. The Engineers fell 90-72 to Union College. Senior guard/forward Brendan Farley led four teammates into double-digit scoring with his 22 points. He added another ten points against Union.

Rensselaer's offense is averaging 86.6 points per game behind the efforts of Brendan Farley and Jamie Zajac. Farley averages 15.6 points per game and Zajac follows with 12.0 points per game. The defense is giving up an 88.4 points per game average. Daniel Martin leads the defensive unit, pulling down 6.2 rebounds per game.

RPI Next Game: After tomorrow's game, RPI will host Bard on Tuesday, January 22 at 8:00 pm.
