Women's Swimming Falls Short To Trinity During Senior Day

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (January 13, 2013) – The Vassar College women's swimming and diving team fell to Trinity College, 121-103 Sunday afternoon in Kresge Pool.

Freshman Marie Schmidt had a commanding victory in the 1,000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 11:27.54. Her time was over eight seconds faster than the second place finisher from Trinity.

The Brewers will next travel to Wellesley College for the Seven Sisters Championship on Saturday, January 19-Sunday, January 20. Trinity will next host Brandeis University on Saturday, January 19 at 1:00 pm.

Freshman Millee Nelson won the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:04.91. Sophomore Liz Balter finished second (1:06.67) and freshman Anna Kuo finished fourth (1:08.31) in the event as well.

Sophomore Zoe Fullerton finished second in a hard fought race in the 200 Yard Individual Medley where she held even with Trinity's Daisy Letendre for the first 100 yards. Letendre pulled away in the second to last with 100 yards remaining to win the race with a time of 2:21.65 and Fullerton finishing with a 2:23.97.

Freshman Maya Pruitt had a lifetime best score on the 1-meter board, scoring 143.62.

“Today was another opportunity to hone in on the important things we need to get stronger at as we approach the championship season, and we feel positive about the teams attitude, focus, and consistency,” assistant coach Dan Decker said.
