Challenging Away Liberty League Weekend For Men's Basketball

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (January 10, 2013) – The Vassar College men's basketball team will travel to St. Lawrence University tomorrow and Clarkson University on Saturday in a tough Liberty League weekend.

When: Friday, January 11 at 8:00 pm and Saturday, January 12 at 4:00 pm

Where: Burkman Gym, Canton, NY (Friday) and Alumni Gymnasium, Potsdam, NY (Saturday)

Vassar Notes: The Brewers (4-6) fell to Bard College 47-43 despite holding a lead of 15 points at one point. The Raptors came back and took the lead with two minutes remaining in the game. Junior forward Evan Carberry drained all three of his 3-point shots and added a free throw and field goal to lead the Brewers with 12 points.

Junior forward John Donnelly leads the Brewers averaging 11.8 points per game and also grabs 6.3 rebounds per game. He is tied with senior guard Jon Herzog and sophomore forward Alex Snyder in assists with 18. Snyder averages 11.0 points per game and a team-high 11.7 rebounds per game.

Vassar Next Game: The Brewers will host Rensselaer Polytechnic Istitute on Tuesday, January 15 at 8:00 pm in their first home game of 2013.

St. Lawrence Notes: The Saints (3-7, 1-0 Liberty League) toppled Liberty League opponent Skidmore College 76-64 on Tuesday, January 8. Senior guard Kyle Miller had a game-high 18 points going a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line and adding three 3-pointers and two more field goals. Sophomore forward Brady Condlin junior guard Payton Stahler pulled down ten rebounds to mark their inside presence.

Condlin leads the Saints averaging 13.1 points per game. Miller follows with 12.4 points per game. Janpeter Brase leads the inside pressure averaging 7.3 rebounds per game.

St. Lawrence Next Game: After tomorrow's game, St. Lawrence will host Bard on Saturday, January 12 at 4:00 pm.

Clarkson Notes: The Golden Knights lost their first two Liberty League games of the season. Clarkson fell to Union College 87-81 on January 4 and then fell to RPI 88-83 on January 5. John Coleman hit 11 field goals while brother Jerry Coleman sunk four 3-pointers and added another five field goals to team up for a total of 46 points against RPI. Clarkson will host Bard tomorrow night before hosting Vassar on Saturday.

Jerry leads the Knights averaging 17.5 points per game. John follows in scoring, averaging 15.9 points per game, and leads in rebounding, averaging 8.7 rebounds per game.
