GLASSBORO, NJ (September 8, 2012) – The Vassar College men's soccer team rounded off the Rowan University Tournament with a 5-0 shutout against John Jay College Saturday afternoon in the consolation game. Zander Mrlik and Evan Seltzer were named All-Tournament Team.

The Brewers return home with a 4-1 record when they host Manhattanville College on Wednesday at 4:00 pm. John Jay drops to a record of 1-3 as they head to York College on Wednesday for a 5:00 pm game.

Junior Juliano Pereira got things started for Vassar under one minute into play when he took a shot against John Jay's Vitecha Kochaon who saved the first shot but allowed the ball to roll right back to Pereira. The rebounded shot was placed into the bottom right corner by Pereira just 57 seconds into the start of the game.

Pereira got the second goal of the game at the 39 minute mark off a double assist from freshman Nick Hess and senior Mrlik. The last pass met Pereira in the middle of the box where he shot it to the left corner of the net.

Freshman Jordan Palmer made the score 3-0 just over ten minutes into the start of the second half off a cross pass from sophomore Tom Wiechert. Palmer hit the lower right corner of the goal in the 56th minute of play. Junior Rob Manukyan scored off a penalty kick just two minutes later.

Sophomore Andre Cousineau finished the game-scoring with a shot to the lower right corner off a long pass from Palmer.

Junior Ryan Grimme recorded recorded two saves in goal. John Jay's Kochaon had three saves until being pulled in the 60th minute and replaced with Steven Merino who had no saves but allowed Cousineau's goal in the 61st minute.

Vassar outshot John Jay 18-4 and was granted more corner kicks (7-3).
