POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (September 7, 2012) – Look to capture its second Betty Richey championship in the last three years, the Vassar College field hockey team got a pair of goals from sophomore
Enya Cunningham, en route to a 4-0 victory over Bay Path College in the 24th edition of the tournament under humid and muggy conditions at Weinberg Field on Friday night.
The Brewers (2-0) will meet Manhattanville College (2-0), a 3-1 winner over Smith College, in Saturday's championship game at 1:00 pm. Smith (0-1) faces Bay Path (0-2) in the consolation game at 11:30 am.
Vassar overpowered Bay Path, getting off 32 shots in the contest, 16 on goal from eight different players. Vassar came out with a strong assault on goal, getting 20 shots in the first 35 minutes.
Cunningham notched both goals, her first of the season, in the first half. Her first tally came at the 9 minute mark off an initial goalie save and the second at the 27th minute mark off a scramble in front of the Bay Path cage. Junior
Rachel Waldman earned an assist on the goal.

Rebecca Smith, who had a career-high nine shots, got her first goal of the season – giving the Brewers a 3-0 lead – at the 47 minute mark. Junior

Bay Path was unable to get a shot off during the contest. On the defensive side, freshman goalie Anna Meyer made 10 saves in the contest and the Wildcats earned two defensive saves in the contest.
Vassar led in penalty corners 15-1.
