POTSDAM, NY (September 29, 2012) – The Vassar College men's soccer team tied Clarkson University 2-2 Saturday afternoon in its third Liberty League game of the year.
Juliano Pereira had both goals for Vassar in the first half. Clarkson's Marco Parisi had one goal in the first and one in the second to keep the game at a standstill.
Vassar now stands at 6-4-1 (1-1-1 Liberty League). The Brewers will next travel to Skidmore College on October 6 for a 2:00 pm game. Clarkson's improves to 1-6-2 (1-1-1 Liberty League) and will travel to Utica College on October 2 for a 7:00 pm game.
Pereira's first goal came in the 16th minute when a corner kick was deflected by a Clarkson defender. Pereira shot the ball into the corner of the net. Clarkson responded one minute later when Parisi got a ground ball past
Ryan Grimme to tie the game.
Pereira helped Vassar regain the lead off a hard ground shot to the far left post for his seventh goal of the year. The goal came in the 27th minute. Parisi scored the game-tying goal in the 46th minute off a Clarkson corner from Angelo DiFrancesco. Parisi headed the ball in.
Both overtimes remained scoreless. Vassar had four shots in the first overtime and one in the second. Clarkson couldn't manage a shot outside of regulation time. For the game, Vassar outshot Clarkson 16-7.
