SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (September 28, 2012) – The Vassar College women's volleyball team improved to 9-3, 5-1 on the season with a pair of victories over Union (25-21, 25-14, 25-11) and St. Lawrence (20-25, 25-9, 25-17, 25-19) in Liberty League play on Friday in matches played at Skidmore College.
Now victorious in five of their last six matches, the Brewers will head to Union College on Saturday for matches against Clarkson and Skidmore at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. respectively.
Playing in the second of three Liberty League crossover weekends, Vassar started action against Union impressively with a 3-0 sweep. After a slow start, the Brewers took control of the match, hitting. 286 in the second set and .238 in the final stanza. Vassar, the top defensive team in the Liberty League against the attack, forced Union into 23 errors against 20 kills.

Clara Cardillo. The offense was orchestrated by senior
Hilary Koenigs with 28 set assists. Defensively, the Brewers covered the net with 10 block assists and 18 total digs, eight which came from freshman
Chloe Hallum.
In the nightcap against St. Lawrence, Vassar dropped the opening set 25-20, but got rolling nicely in the next three to earn a fourth league victory in five matches. Behind a career-high 19 kills from Mosley, the Brewers hit .571 in the second set and displayed an offensive-minded game with 117 attempts.
Mosley made only four attack errors in 34 attempts in earning her 19 kills. Senior
Chloe McGuire had a strong 10 kill, two error match and sophomore
Marie Pitre added eight kills. Koenigs had 40 of Vassar's 41 set assists. Hallum added 19 digs for a Vassar team that had 52 in the match.
