Women's Volleyball Opens Liberty League Season With 3-0 Victory Over Bard

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (September 18, 2012) – The Vassar College women's volleyball team opened Liberty League play with a 3-0 (25-8, 25-8, 25-11) sweep over Bard College on Tuesday night at Kenyon Hall.

Vassar got five or more kills from three different players and was able to build sizable, double digit leads in each set to earn the victory.

The Brewers improve to 5-2, 1-0 on the season. Bard drops to 3-6, 0-1. Both schools continue Liberty League play this weekend at Rochester Institute of Technology. Vassar meets St. Lawrence and host RIT on Friday night starting at 5:30 p.m. Bard plays RIT and Clarkson.

Vassar got 5 kills each from seniors Cebe Loomis and Brittany Stopa and four from sophomore Taylor Mosley. Set assists were split between senior Hilary Koenigs (13) and junior Rose Carman (12). Junior Megan Andersen reached double figures in digs for the fourth time in her career with 12.

Tytravia Riley had three kills for Bard. Lexi Cooper had six set assists and Mai Aurell-Fouiser had seven digs.

The Brewers hit .361 for the match, with the second set at .588 being particularly strong.
