Men's Tennis Bounced From NCAAs 5-0 By Defending Champ Amherst

AMHERST, MA (May 13, 2012) -- Playing in its first ever NCAA Division III Championships round of 16 match, the Vassar College men's tennis team had its hands full in a 5-0 loss to the top-ranked and defending champion Amherst College on Sunday.

The Brewers made program history on Saturday with their first tournament win to reach the third round, finishing the season with a 15-11 record. The No. 1 Lord Jeffs (31-2) will face either Washington University St. Louis or Gustavus Adolphus in the quarterfinals on May 21.

Amherst took a 3-0 lead with three dominant wins in doubles, dropping only one game. 

The Lord Jeffs clinched the match with singles points at the No. 5 and No. 3 positions. Andrew Jung topped Wilson Platt 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and Luis Rattenhuber defeated Dan Freeman 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
