Men's Basketball Takes on Sarah Lawrence In Final Road Game of the Semester

Alex Snyder is a versatile player averaging 12.6 rebounds and 11.3 points per game

BRONXVILLE, NY (December 10, 2012) – The Vassar College men's basketball team will make the final road trip of the 2012 schedule tonight when they face Sarah Lawrence College.

Vassar Notes: The Brewers (3-4) fell 69-54 Saturday afternoon to Hamilton College. The Continentals were backed by their 3-point shooting in the first half and then their inside game in the second half. Hamilton hit 24 of its 30 first half points from outside of the arc and then added 22 points from field goals and 11 from free throws in the second half. Junior forward John Donnelly had 13 points to lead the Brewers.

Vassar is led by Donnelly averaging 11.9 points per game. Sophomore forward Alex Snyder leads the Brewers in rebounds averaging 12.6 a game and adds a scoring average of 11.3 points per game. Senior guard Jon Herzog averages 11.1 points per game.

Vassar Next Game: The Brewers will next host Mount St. Mary College on Wednesday, December 12 at 7:00 pm in the final home game of the semester. The game is also Student-Athlete Appreciation Night where the Department of Athletics & Physical Education will honor the outstanding individual and team highlights from the past spring and fall athletic seasons at halftime.

Sarah Lawrence Notes: The Gryphons (3-6, 0-1 HVMAC) fell by a 64-point margin to Bard College Saturday 86-22. Bard scored the game's first 21 points before Sarah Lawrence's Juan Sucre hit a free-throw to make the game 21-1. The Raptors had a 34-point lead going into halftime and almost doubled that lead in the final minute of play. Bard led by 66 points with 19 seconds remaining before a pair of Sarah Lawrence free throws from Malcolm Knowles brought the lead back to 64. Greg Smith led the Gryphons with 11 points.

Out of the five games he has played and started in, Smith leads the team with an 11.0 points per game average. Francis Oppong has started all nine games and has a 9.0 points per game average.

Sarah Lawrence Next Game: The Gryphons will next host The New School on Thursday, December 13 at 7:00 pm.
