Swim-Dive Hosts Skidmore In Home Opener Saturday at Kresge Pool

Saturday is Burgundy & Gray Day For the Brewers' Swim-Dive Teams.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (Nov. 2) -- The Vassar College men's and women's swimming and diving teams will have their home opening on Saturday, November 3 against Liberty League rival Skidmore at 1:00 pm. The team has designated this meet as its Burgundy & Gray Game and encourages all fans attending to support the team by wearing those colors.

Meet Time: 1:00 pm, Kresge Pool

Vassar Women's Notes: The Brewers (1-1) defeated Clarkson University 229-59 and lost to Worcester Polytechnic Institute 161-138 in their 2012-13 season opener last Saturday.

Sydnie Alquist won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:05.68 and took second in the 100 yard freestyle (58.18) to highlight the swimmers. Shannon Sara won the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:20.49.Lilliana Frye won the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 58.00 and took second in the 50 yard freestyle (26.73). Juliana Struve took first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:15.60 and third in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:43.26).

Vassar Men's Notes: The Brewers (0-2) lost to both Clarkson University 160-122 and to Worcester Polytechnic Institute 176-97 in their 2012-13 season opener Saturday.

Luc Amodio won the 200 yard individual medley relay with a time of 2:06.27 to highlight the swimmers. Rory Moon won both the three-meter diving (145.15) and the one-meter diving events (136.72).

Skidmore Women's Notes: The Thoroughbreds (1-1) are coming off a 185-104 victory over SUNY Potsdam last Saturday. It comes after a narrow 116-114 loss to St. Lawrence the previous day. For the women against SUNY Potsdam, Catherine King and Yookee Roh won four times, including three individual wins each.  King was part of the 200 free relay and came back to win the 200 free (2:05.53), 50 free (25.54), and 100 fly (1:05.93). She came from behind to win the 100 fly. Roh was also on the 200 free relay and won the 100 back (1:03.47), 200 back (2:18.25), and 200 IM (2:22.96).

Skidmore Men's Notes: The Thoroughbreds are 1-1, coming off a 163-131 loss to SUNY Potsdam last Saturday. The team opened its season with a 143-60 win over St. Lawrence. Against SUNY Potsdam, Robert Fulton finished second in the 100 and 200 breast  and Logan Jones was second in the 50 free and 100 fly. Kristen Stearns and Jacob Nathan swept the diving events with Kylie Rosabal and Charlie Bullis finishing second in the 1 meter event.

Coaches: Vassar is coached by Lisl Prater-Lee in her 18th season. Skidmore is coached by Jill Belding Greenleaf in her 10th season.
