NEW PALTZ, NY (November 17, 2012) – Fine tuning and preparing for the upcoming Liberty League Championships was the course of action for the Vassar College women's swimming team, which swam fervently against a strong SUNY New Paltz squad on Saturday afternoon.

While the Brewers fell 140-88, head coach Lisl Prater-Lee was pleased with her team's performance, especially for those swimmers who were testing the waters in different events.

“We mixed up some things today, all with the goal toward the league championships and earning some points,” said Prater-Lee. “New Paltz has a very strong team with terrific swimmers.”

Shannon Sara continued her strong season by capturing the 100 Breaststroke (1:13.19). She also won the 400 IM (4:54.25). “That was a very competitive and solid effort for this time of year,” said Prater-Lee.

In the 200 Butterfly, Robin Lam finished third in her debut at that race (2:27.52). The 200 Backstroke featured a season best performance from Lilian Doyle (2:33.91). “Lilian dropped two seconds off her season best, which is a positive performance in a tough meet,” says Prater-Lee.

The Brewers took the top two spots in the 200 Freestyle Relay.

After a week of training, Vassar will compete at the Liberty League Championships at the University of Rochester on November 31-December 1.
