WORCESTER, MA (October 27, 2012) – The Vassar College men's swimming and diving team lost to Clarkson University 160-122 and to Worcester Polytechnic Institute 176-97 in its 2012-13 season opener Saturday.

Luc Amodio won the 200 yard individual medley relay with a time of 2:06.27 to highlight the swimmers. Rory Moon won both the three-meter diving (145.15) and the one-meter diving events (136.72).

The Brewers, now 0-2, will next host Skidmore College in a dual meet on November 3 at Kresge Pool at 1:00 pm. WPI (2-0) will next host the New England Invite on November 3 and Clarkson will host St. Lawrence on Friday, November 2.

“This was a good start to a season despite not posting the best times," said head coach Lisl Prater-Lee. "There was a lot of energy from both the men and women and we're excited to host Skidmore next Saturday because over the years we've developed a sort of a rivalry with them.”

Amodio took third in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 50.39 and third in the 200 yard freestyle (1:54.33). Amodio teamed with Matt Weiss, Isaiah Hale and Mathúe Duhaney in the 200 yard medley relay for a second place finish in 1:42.01, just barely beating WPI's second team.

Hale also took third in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:12.06. Jeffrey From took second in the one-meter diving (106.50).

“It was an odd meet because we weren't looking at places,” Prater-Lee said. “We have five new men on the team and it was exciting seeing them compete at this level.”

Gregory Cristina took fifth in the 50 yard freestyle to highlight the freshmen performances.
