Women's Volleyball Competitive In Second Day At Elmhurst Invitational

Senior Hilary Koenigs had 65 total set assists in Saturday's two matches.

ELMHURST, IL (October 20, 2012) – Facing stiff competition in the second day of play at the Elmhurst Invitational, the Vassar College women's volleyball team lost its two matches to Transylvania 3-2 (27-25, 25-22, 16-25, 22-25, 11-15) and to host Elmhurst 3-0 (11-25, 23-25, 10-25) on Saturday.

The Brewers return home with a 18-9 record and will head to SUNY New Paltz for a 7:00 p.m. match on Wednesday, October 24.

Vassar and Transylvania played a highly competitive match. The Brewers had three players reach double figures in kills, led by junior Jessie Ditmore who had 14. Both senior Chloe McGuire and sophomore Taylor Mosley had 13 each. Mosley was the most proficient, hitting .313 for the match.

Senior Hilary Koenigs anchored the offense with 44 set assists. A strong defensive effort was keyed by freshman Chloe Hallum who had 18 digs. For the match, Vassar had 49 digs.

Elmhurst ran its record to 24-7 with the victory over Vassar. Ditmore led the team with eight kills. Koenigs had 21 assists and Hallum 10 digs.
