POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 2, 2011) -- The Vassar College men's tennis team faced a formidable opponent in the nation's No. 4 ranked Amherst College and suffered an 8-1 loss on Saturday at Walker Field House.

"It was a hard fought match," said head coach John Cox. "We won a point and played some close matches."

The No. 29 ranked Brewers (7-8) host Fordham University on Wednesday, April 6, at 4:00 p.m. The Lord Jeffs (20-1) face Skidmore College today at 2:00 p.m.

Vassar's lone win came at No. 1 singles as sophomore Andrew Guzick, ranked No. 7 nationally and No. 5 in the Northeast, knocked off Luis Rattenhuber (No. 25 nationally, No. 6 Northeast) 7-5, 6-4.
