TROY, NY (October 1, 2011) -- The Vassar College women's soccer team jumped out to an early lead in the 20th minute against St. Lawrence University, but the slim margin did not hold and the game ended in a tie after two scoreless overtime periods on Saturday at Sandy MacAllaster Field.

Kelsey Domb scored her sixth goal of the season in the 19th minute, but St. Lawrence's Betsy Lucas evened the score in the 78th minute to send the game to overtime.
The Brewers (6-4-1, 1-1-1 Liberty) are in fourth place in the Liberty League with six points, while the Saints (5-2-2, 2-0-1 Liberty) maintain in second place. The Brewers face Skidmore College on the road on Saturday, October 8, at 2:00 p.m. The Saints host William Smith College on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
Vassar scored the game's first goal on a penalty kick 19:05 into play when a Vassar player was tripped up as Saint goalie Abby van Geldern tried to make a save in the penalty area. Domb tucked her penlty shot just inside the post to beat van Geldern's dive and give Vassar a 1-0 lead.
The Brewers outshot the Saints 10-8 in the first half, but the Saints started taking control midway through the second half and tied the score off a corner kick. Stephanie Sayward put the ball in play and after a header in front, it went to the top left of the 18-yard box where Lucas hit a hard shot which beat Vassar freshman goalie

The Saints outshot Vassar 9-5 in the second half and 4-0 in each of two ten minute overtimes. The Vassar defense did not break and the game ended in a draw after 110 minutes.
Lanier finished with seven saves for the Brewers while van Geldern had nine for the Saints. SLU outshot Vassar 25-15 and had 10-4 advantage in corner kicks.
