Brewers Come Up Empty-Handed At No. 8 Amherst in 9-0 Loss

AMHERST, MA (April 24, 2010) - The Vassar College men's tennis team fell to last year's NCAA finalist Amherst College Saturday afternoon in the final dual match of the season.

The ITA no. 24 Brewers await the selections for the NCAA Division III Championships which begin Friday May 14th. The ITA no. 8 Lord Jeffs (23-8) next face Middlebury College on the road Saturday May 1 at 1:00 p.m.

Amherst swept doubles to take a commanding 3-0 lead.

Vassar could not overcome the deficit and dropped all six singles matches.

Freshman Andrew Guzick put forth a good effort in a close 6-2, 5-7, (10-7) loss to Moritz Koenig at no. 3 singles.

The no. 8 ITA Northeast ranked Brewers end the 2009-2010 season with a program best 14-3 record and prepare for the program's third NCAA Championships appearance.
