ORLANDO, FL (March 11, 2008)-- In a match that featured four of six singles matches that went five sets, Coe (IA) College handed Vassar's men's tennis team its first loss of the spring season, 5-4, this afternoon.
The Brewers, now 7-1 this spring, will face Calvin College on Wednesday.
"This was a tough match to lose, but at the same time it was a great match and we fought hard," said head coach Ki Kroll. "When you have four of six singles matches going into a third set, anything can happen."
The Brewers started out strongly in doubles, winning at No. 2 and No. 3. The singles play featured four of six matches going the distance. Freshmen Joshua Jasso (Olmito, TX/James Pace) and Max Willner (Bronx, NY/The Dwight School) each pulled out tough 3-set victories.
