SCHENECTADY, NY (February 16, 2008) -- Vassar's women's basketball team played Union tough for the first half, trailing only 30-22, but the host Dutchwomen put together a strong offensive second half en route to a 63-42 victory over the Brewers Saturday afternoon in Liberty League action. Sophomore
Emily Haeuser (South Portland, ME/South Portland) had 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Brewers who fall to 4-15, 0-11. Vassar's last three games of the season, against RPI, St. Lawrence and Clarkson, will all be played at home beginning Wednesday at 6:00 and continuing on Friday and Saturday at 6:00 pm. and 2:00 pm.

Elise Okusami (Olney, MD/Georgetown Day) added seven points, making all four of her free throw attempts.
Union junior forward Michelle Rogers (Clarence, NY) scored 16 points and sophomore guard Rachel Titcomb (Henniker, NH) pulled down a career high 11 rebounds for Union, which improved to 13-9 overall and 7-5 in Liberty League play. Rogers also had five steals and Titcomb had seven of her boards on the offensive end.
Union had a 30-22 halftime lead, and Vassar was down eight at 41-33 with 12:36 remaining in the second stanza after a jumper by Hauser. But Union then went on a 18-4 run in the next 10:05 for a 22 point advantage, 59-37. Rogers had six points during the run. It was the largest lead for the day.
Union had a 45-31 rebounding edge and outscored the Brewers in the paint, 42-16. The Dutchwomen forced 35 turnovers, the most by any opponent. Lucia Reed (Braintree, MA) added seven points for the Dutchwomen, who shot 37 percent to Vassar's 34 percent.
