Men's Swim-Dive Falls to RPI

Results

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 15, 2008) – Senior John Alaimo (Blauvelt, NY/Tappan Zee) notched two first place finishes and freshman diver Greg Sullivan (Cranbury, NJ/Peddie School) fared well against a deep Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) diving squad, but the Vassar College men's team dropped a 184-109 decision to RPI on Saturday at Kresge Pool.

The Brewers fall to 1-1, and travel to SUNY New-Paltz next Saturday. RPI improves to 2-2.

“I thought the men swam as a cohesive unit,” said head coach Lisl Prater-Lee. “We had a lot of men who stepped up and swam off-events. We filled all the races and got some lifetime bests.”

Alaimo notched victories in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.81) and the 100-yard butterfly (55.92). Sullivan turned in two second-place finishes in the diving events scoring 236.40 in the 1-meter and the 232.95 in the 3-meter.

“Greg's been consistently strong this season,” Prater-Lee said of the freshman.

Turning in season bests were Dustin Molina (Toms River, NJ/Ranney School) in the 50-yard freestyle, Alistair Hall (Montreal, Canada/West Morris Mendham [NJ]) in the 200-yard backstroke, and Dakota House (Orlando, FL/Lake Highland Preparatory) in the 500-yard freestyle.
