POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 17, 2007) -- Swimming against cross river rival SUNY New Paltz, Vassar's women's swimming team lost at Kresge Pool in the home opener, 119-80, Saturday afternoon.

The Vassar women had great swims on the day vs. New Paltz. The 1000 yd. free was a big event for Vassar as Charley Young (Pensacola, FL/Pensacola) (11:22.95), Liz Gadomski (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) (11:56.45), and Maeve McCoy (Anchorage, AK/ Stellar Secondary) (12:23.37) joined forces for 3rd, 4th, and 6th respectively in what was McCoy's first-ever 1000 yd. free.

Sam Jones (Hanover, MA/Hanover) and Ilene Goodman (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) teamed up for 3rd and 5th in the 200 yd fly with their respective 2:26.24 and 2:35.63, which was Jones' first-ever attempt at the challenging event.
