Women's Swimming Comes Together Against RPI

TROY, NY (November 10, 2007) -- Despite a great team effort, Vassar's women's swimming & diving team was defeated by Liberty League rival RPI, 185-108, Saturday afternoon.

Many Brewer women stepped up to claim significant places in their events, including senior captain Liz Gadomski (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) in the 1000 yd free (3rd, 11:31.02) and 500 yd free (4th, 5:55.66) and freshmen teammates Samantha Jones (Hanover, MA/Hanover) and Melisa Brower (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) in the 100 yd. fly (2nd, 1:03.80) and 200 yd. back (3rd, 2:24.69), to name a few.

The highest point garnering event for Vassar on the day was the 200 yd. back in which Emily Love (South Windsor, CT/ South Windsor), Brower, and Alyse Larkin (Malibu, CA/Malibu) teamed up for 1st (2:11.96), 3rd (2:24.69), and 5th (2:34.18).

According to Head Coach Lisl Prater-Lee, "We swam much better as a team today. We were ready to race and it showed. We were smart about the details, warming up and warming down and everyone was actively engaged in the meet with cheering and the like but when it was time to compete, we were ready
to go."

Vassar returns to action next Saturday, November 17, with a home meet against SUNY New Paltz at 1:00 pm.
