Men's Soccer Falls To Suny Cortland, 2-0

CORTLAND, NY (October 27, 2007) -- SUNY Cortland scored two goals within two minutes of each other to hand Vassar's men's soccer team a 2-0 loss Saturday afternoon. The goals were tallied at the games 45th and 47th minute respectively and both came off long shots.

The loss ends Vassar's regular season at 7-5-3, the first winning season for the Brewers since 2003. Cortland improves to 11-6 on the season. Vassar has declared its intention to be considered for the annual ECAC Championships and will receive a decison in a week.

Cortland's Kyle Stepanovsky scored the games first goal on a 24-yd shot from right side at 45:49, just under a minute into the second half.

Ayinde George increased Cortland's lead to 2-0 at 47:46 with a 20-yard goal coming from the left side. Both goals came off goalie Jason Cetel, who made two saves on the game.

The Brewers had four shots against Cortland's Jack Carillo that were stopped, two in each half.

The Brewers held a 7-2 margin in corner kicks, but were unable to convert them into scores.
