Men's Soccer Improves To 6-2 With 2-0 Win Over Bard

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY (October 1, 2007) -- Vassar's men's soccer team won its sixth game of the season Monday night, registering a 2-0 win over Bard College. The Brewers scored a goal in each half en route to improving their record to 6-2. Sophomore Alex Freund got Vassar on the board on an assist from junior Sizwe Mdluli just three minutes into the game. Vassar's insurance goal came in the 52nd minute from sophomore Brian Bianchetti on an assist from fellow sophomore Matthew Belli.

The Brewers next play Friday on the road against Hamilton at 4:00 pm in the first of two Liberty League games. On Saturday, Vassar travels to Hobart for a 2:00 pm game.

Junior goalie Jimmy McCumber (Holliston, MA) got the start in goal and registered the victory, his second this season and third of his career. McCumber made three saves. Steven Stevenson made 11 saves for Bard (2-7). For the game, Vassar had 13 shots compared to Bard's three.

Bianchetti had a team high five shots on goal for Vassar.
