Corey Holton joined the Vassar College staff as the head women's soccer coach in the spring of 2014. At the end of the 2019 season, Holton has accumulated a 56-43-11 overall mark, while going 27-16-7 in Liberty League play.
It was a banner year in 2019 for the Vassar women's soccer team, which tied a program record with six Liberty League wins. The team went 11-8-1 overall with a 6-3 mark in league action. The Brewers finished tied for third in the final standings, advancing to the Liberty League Tournament as the third-seed. Vassar powered their way to the Liberty League Championship game, falling 1-0 in overtime to the eventual National-runners up, William Smith.
The 2019 team saw four student-athletes garner All-Liberty League Team honors, including First Team recognition for Jordan Moss '20. Moss and Savannah Cutler '20 were also named United Soccer Coaches All-Region honorees. Additionally, the Brewers tied for a Liberty League-best 16 All-Academic Team selections.
During the 2018 season, Holton guided the Brewers to a 9-8-1 overall record, going 5-4 in Liberty League play. Vassar finished in a tie for sixth overall, but advanced to the league tournament and later qualified for the program's first-ever berth into the NCAA Championship.
At the conclusion of the 2018 season, the Brewers saw five student-athletes named to the All-Liberty League Teams - paced by Rebecca Andrews '19 on the First Team. Andrews was later named an All-Region honoree, while the squad produced a Liberty League-best 21 honorees on the All-Academic Team.
2017 marked another competitive year for the Brewers finishing second in the Liberty League for the second season in a row and making it to the championship match for the first time since 2010. The team garnered five All-Liberty League winners including one First Team, two Second Team and two Honorable Mention honorees. Ashley Ferry was named the Liberty League Rookie of the Year while Amanda McFarland earned Vassar College Scholar-Athlete of the Year for her accomplishments on and off the field.
Holton mentored the squad to one of its best seasons in program history in 2016, as VC won a school record six Liberty League games while earning a home playoff game for only the second time in program history. Vassar's 6-2 Liberty League mark was the best ever for a Brewer squad, and Vassar picked up five All-Liberty League honorees in the process, including two First Team honorees. 2016 was the team's fifth-straight winning season while earning a bid to the Liberty League Tournament for the third time in the last four seasons.
The Vassar women's squad had five players selected to the 2015 All-Liberty League team including the first player in program history to be named the Liberty League Rookie of the Year, Rebecca Andrews. Finishing the season 9-7-2 overall and 3-3-2 in league, Holton led the Brewers to their third appearance in the Liberty League Tournament.
In her first season, Holton led the Brewers to their third straight winning season in 2014, compiling an 8-6-3 record during her first season in Poughkeepsie. Holton coached two All-Liberty League selections in her inaugural season, while the Brewers also earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award in the fall of 2014.
Holton, who is a 2005 graduate of Elmira College, comes to Poughkeepsie after a season at Division I University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN. As a member of the Fighting Irish staff, Holton served as the recruiting coordinator while helping lead the Irish to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. She also assisted in signing 11 prospects, including six with US National Team experience.
Previous to her work at Notre Dame, Holton was the head women’s soccer coach at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. At WPI, she oversaw all aspects of the program, while eight athletes of hers earned All-Academic NEWMAC honors.
Before WPI, Holton served as the head coach at Concordia University in Texas for three seasons. Holton still stands as the program’s all-time winningest coach at Concordia, as her term culminated with a 14-6 record in 2011 and an American Southwest Conference Coach of the Year honor.
Holton’s coaching career began back in 2006, as she was an assistant coach at Greensboro College for three years. Holton served as recruiting coordinator and helped guide the Pride to a record-breaking 14-4-1 season in 2007.
Holton serves as the East Region Chair for the United Soccer Coaches Division III Advocacy Group and is the Chair of the United Soccer Coaches East Region Ranking Committee. She serves as a mentor for Women Leaders in College Sports and holds a United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Diploma and United States Soccer Federation “C” License.
While at Elmira as an undergraduate, Holton was a four-year varsity player and two-year captain for the Soaring Eagles, helping lead EC to a 42-27-5 record. She also served as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee president for multiple years and was the Empire 8 SAAC liaison as well. Holton obtained her masters in science in sport studies from High Point University in December of 2008.
