Ross Macklin

Former Vassar College men’s soccer player Ross Macklin officially joined the coaching staff before the 2014 season. Between his time as player and assistant coach, Macklin has helped Vassar get to the Liberty League Championship final four times, has won the Liberty League Championship twice, and been to the NCAA Tournament three times. The Vassar men’s soccer program is 56-26-12 with Macklin acting as the assistant coach. He also served as the program’s interim head coach for the 2018 spring semester, coaching the team through its non-traditional season.

Macklin’s first stint as a member of the coaching staff came in the 2012 season when he worked as a student assistant for Jennings. After playing for the Brewers over the previous four seasons. Macklin took over in 2012 as an interim assistant coach and was part of the most successful season in program history when VC finished 13-5-3 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

As a senior in 2011, Macklin captained the team to its first ever Liberty League Championship. He had a fantastic offensive season, starting all 20 games while leading the team with nine assists and 23 points. Macklin was second on the team in goals with seven,, and posted a pair of game-winners. In his career, Macklin played in 68 games, starting 67 times, while scoring 14 goals and posting 17 assists for a total of 45 points. He was a two-time All-Liberty League selection in 2010 and 2011, and an NSCAA All-Region selection in 2011.

Macklin has worked as a team coach for three years in the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP). He also plays with Stockade FC, a semi-professional club based in Kingston, NY that participates in the NPSL. In 2017, Macklin helped the Stockade to their first ever North Atlantic Division championship and qualification for the US Open Cup. In the week that the Stockade won their championship, Macklin was selected to the NPSL National Team of the Week.
