Mullen starred in his collegiate debut, registering four points on two goals and a pair of assists to help Vassar to a 6-5 season-opening win at Drew on Saturday. The freshman scored the Brewers' first goal of the season, finding the back of the net with about five minutes remaining in the first quarter, thanks to a pass from
Sam Houston-Read. Less than 20 seconds later, Mullen found fellow freshman
Matthew Lowery for another score, 2-0. Mullen also picked up a pair of points in the second stanza, assisting on a goal at the 6:59 mark before finding the back of the net himself about three minutes later to give the Brewers their largest lead of the contest, 6-1.
Sokolov helped pull the Brewers pull even at 4 points apiece after trailing 4-0 in an epic non-conference win over Rochester. With the match score 4-3, Sokolov picked up a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 victory at No. 2 singles over Andrew Nunno to keep Vassar's hopes of earning the win alive.
Houston-Read led the attack in Vassar's 6-5 season-opening win at Drew on Saturday, posting four points on two goals and a pair of assists. The senior captain had an all-around productive day, adding three groundballs and two created turnovers to his stat line. Houston-Read helped get the Brewers on the board with an assist to freshman
Michael Mullen with about five minutes remaining in the first quarter. Houston-Read later capped VC's three-goal period with a score of his own with about two minutes to go. He picked up where he left off in the second stanza, netting VC's first goal of the period before assisting on the Brewers' final score of the half.
Litsky helped start a furious comeback for Vassar this weekend in one of the craziest men's tennis matches in recent history, as VC won the last five matches to earn a 5-4 win over Rochester. Litsky knocked off Masaru Fukimaki 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, making the score 4-1 which set-up the comeback victory.
Christensen was once again strong for the Brewers this week, as she moved to 10-2 on the season with a straight set win over Allie Kallish of RPI. Kallish is ranked regionally, but Christensen was able to pick up the 6-2, 6-4 win over RPI's No. 1 player. Christensen also earned VC's lone doubles wins, teaming with
Morgane Flournoy for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles
