POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (October 31, 2016) -- The Liberty League released its weekly listing of honors Monday afternoon, and three Brewer freshmen earned Rookie of the Week honors for their play. In addition, six other Brewer athletes picked up Honor Roll accolades. 
Freshman men's cross country runner 
Adin Becker chalked up his fourth Rookie of the Week award after his standout performance at the Liberty League Championships, while field hockey player 
Cristina Lopez and women's soccer newcomer 
Savannah Cutler also chalked up Rookie of the Week laurels. 
Becker took the race out quickly on Saturday at the Liberty League Championships in Geneva, NY, and was able to withstand the assault from the back as he finished 13th overall with a time of 26:17.3. Becker was the top freshman finisher in the race, as he took home All-Liberty League Second Team honors. 
Lopez had another strong week for the Brewers, playing all 140 minutes for VC, while posting two goals in a huge 3-2 win over New Paltz 
Saturday. 
Wednesday against Scranton, she posted a team-best four shots, and followed that up by posting two goals against New Paltz including the game-winner that helped VC erase a 2-0 early deficit in a 3-2 road victory. For the season, Lopez has four goals and four assists and is sixth on the team in points.
Savannah Cutler had a phenomenal showing in Vassar's 3-0 shutout over Bard 
on Tuesday, notching the game-winner and assisting on another score to give the Brewers the No. 2 seed in the conference standings for the first time since 2010. For the game-winning goal, 
Rebecca Andrews played the ball back for Cutler to chip her second goal of the season into the top left corner from the right corner of the goalie box within the first minute of the second half. Less than 
10 minutes later, Cutler broke away down the right side before playing through to 
Audrey Pillsbury, who dribbled along the right wing before striking from 10 yards out into the far left corner. With that, Cutler has nine points on two goals and five assists on the season. 
The Brewers earned six on the Honor Roll listings, as senior field hockey player 
Hayley Beach, junior men's soccer players 
Tanner Sands and 
Alex Gonzales, freshman Michael Deiner, women's soccer sophomore 
Rebecca Andrews and sophomore women's volleyball player 
Devan Gallagher all picked up the honor. 
Andrews registered three points on a game-winning assist and a goal during Vassar's 1-1 week. In the Brewer's 3-0 shutout of Bard 
on Tuesday, Andrews played the ball back to freshman forward 
Savannah Cutler, who chipped the game-winner into the top left corner from the right corner of the goalie box. With the win, the Brewers secured the No. 2 seed in the conference standings, earning home field advantage in the playoffs for the first time since 2010. In Vassar's 3-2 loss at Union 
on Saturday, Andrews put the Brewers up 2-1 on a penalty kick to start the second half. With that, Andrews leads the team with 20 points on nine goals and two assists. 
In Vassar's vital, 2-1 win over Union 
on Tuesday,  Sands slotted the game-winner off a penalty kick in the 81st minute. With the game tied at one and with the postseason on the line, Sands notched his fifth goal and second game-winner of the season, slowly approaching the PK before beating the keeper to find the top, right corner. Then in Vassar's 2-0 shutout over Bard 
on Sunday, Sands was phenomenal in communicating with his teammates and moving the ball around to keep the Raptors on their toes. With those two wins, the Brewers secured a spot in the Liberty League Championships. 
Gonzales had a spectacular showing, notching a goal and assisting on a game-winner in Vassar's 2-0 week. In the Brewer's 2-1 win over Union 
on Tuesday, Gonzales opened scoring in the 22nd minute, taking advantage of a set piece situation. 
Tyler Gilmore got a head on 
Hayden Van Brewer's free kick and connected with Gonzales, who kicked his sixth goal of the season into the net from close range. Then in Vassar's 2-0 shutout over Bard 
on Saturday, Gonzales assisted on the game-winner in the 16th minute. The junior midfielder crossed left into the box from out wide for 
Toby Stansell to head the difference-maker into the net from close range. With that, Gonzales has 15 points on six goals and three assists.
Deiner had a strong first collegiate meet for the Brewers, as he won both the 1-meter and 3-meter events against Bard College 
on Wednesday. Deiner posted a 166.45 in the 1-meter, six-dive event, followed by taking the 3-meter event with a score of 175.90.
Beach scored two goals on the week as Vassar went a perfect 2-0, topping Scranton 
on Wednesday 2-0 and New Paltz 
Saturday 3-2. 
Wednesday at Scranton, Vassar scored her sixth goal of the season to give the Brewers some insurance. 
Saturday, Beach tied the game at two with her seventh of the season, setting up VC's 3-2 come-from-behind win.
Gallagher had another great week for the Brewers, as VC picked up a pair of wins over two regionally-ranked teams in New Paltz and Ramapo. Gallagher averaged 4.14 kills per set, hitting .361 while only erring only seven times on 61 attempts. Gallagher chalked up 29 total kills, starting with 15 against New Paltz, hitting .324 in a three-set win, VC's first over their local rival since 2008. 
Saturdayagainst Ramapo, VC helped snap the Roadrunners 19-match winning streak, as Gallagher posted 14 kills on 27 attempts, hitting .407.
