Women’s Lacrosse & Men’s Tennis Combine for Five Liberty Weekly Honors

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 27, 2015) – The Vassar women's lacrosse team swept honors for the Liberty League Team of the Week, while the Vassar men's tennis team produced both the Singles Performer and Doubles Team of the Week in a release made by the conference's offices this afternoon.

The Vassar women's lacrosse team earned its first sweep of the Liberty League's weekly honors, producing the Offensive Performer, Defensive Performer and Rookie of the Week after the squad went 3-0 and locked up the No. 3 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

Junior Isabelle Goldstein (Belmont, MA/Belmont) was named the league's Offensive Performer of the Week after a historic week for the Brewers. The attacker recorded nine goals and nine assists while breaking both the single season (32) and career (80) assist records at Vassar. She started the week off with a two-goal, five-assist effort in a 17-8 win over Mt. St. Mary. She posted six points on three scores and three helpers in a win over St. Lawrence on April 24, then helped VC win its fifth straight with four goals and a dish in a win against Clarkson. She also caused four turnovers, scooped two ground balls and collected five draw controls in the victories. This is Goldstein's first career selection as the Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week.

Senior Kate Pula earned her first career nod as the Liberty League Defensive Player of the Week, posting three wins in the cage for the Brewers over the past week. Pula put together one of her finest stretches in goal this season, allowing just 6.00 goals per game while making 18 saves. Pula was virtually perfect in the second half in VC's 11-5 win over St. Lawrence, making five saves while not allowing a goal for the first 29 minutes on the half.

Freshman Storm Sideleau (Hopkinton, NH/Kimball Union Academy) received her second selection of the season as the conference's Rookie of the Week after scoring 10 goals while helping Vassar to three wins. Sideleau started off her week with three goals in a 17-8 win over Mt. St. Mary on April 21. She posted another goal in an 11-5 victory over St. Lawrence, then finished off the regular season in style scoring a career-best five goals in a 14-8 win over Clarkson to help VC secure the No. 3 seed in the Liberty League Tournament.

Sophomore Nick Litsky (St. Petersburg, FL/Shorecrest Prep School) was named the Liberty League Singles Player of the Week for the third time this season after helping the Brewers to a 2-0 weekend in conference play. Litsky went 2-0 at No. 1 singles besting Rhonny Rosario (SLU) 6-2, 6-0 on April 25, then Michael Rusk (HOB) 6-3, 6-1 on April 26 to finish undefeated (7-0) in Liberty League singles play.
