POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 7, 2014) -- The Liberty League office released the Fall All-Academic Teams Friday morning, and 55 fall Vassar College student-athletes were honored for their laurels in the classroom.
The Liberty League posted a total of 580 student-athletes on the fall lists, which included men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, field hockey, football and women's volleyball. The 580 athletes awarded was 95 more than last fall, when the league had 485 qualifiers for the accolade.
To be recognized as a member of the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2.
"High academic achievement has been the norm rather than the exception for Liberty League student-athletes," said League commissioner Tracy King. "The young men and women continue to demonstrate that it is possible to not only excel academically, but to achieve athletically at the highest level in Division III. I congratulate and salute them on their outstanding achievements."
