A Habit of ExcellenceCarpenter's qualification for the cross country national championship marks the ninth time a Vassar woman has done so and the sixth time in the past seven years. At the Atlantic Region Championships, Carpenter and freshman
Meghan Willcoxon earned All-Region honors, giving the Brewers nine All-Region honorees since 2010.
Making Her MarkCarpenter's time of 22:16 at the regional championships was the fastest ever by a Vassar woman at regionals. By time, she is the third fastest woman in school history over 6k, on any course, in any conditions.
Clutch PerformerCarpenter has scored points for the Brewers at the regional championships in each of her four years. She placed third for Vassar twice--at the 2011 and 2013 regional championships--before leading the team this year.
Goal To Shoot AtThe senior runner will take aim at a few goals this Saturday at the NCAA Championships, as she looks to get under the 22 minute mark for the first time ever. Also, that would make her the fastest women's cross country runner in program history.
Looking BackThe Brewers are back in the NCAA Championships after a year hiatus, as
Aubree Piepmeier was the last to take the trip to Nationals in 2012. Over the team's program, Vassar College has sent seven total runners to the NCAA Championships, starting with Tracy Nichols back in 1988.
2012:
Aubree Piepmeier2011: Kelly Holmes
2010: Johanna Spangler, Elizabeth Forbes
2008: Johanna Spangler
1998: Clodagh Rafferty
1990: Tracy Nichols
1988: Tracy Nichols
Career YearCarpenter earned her first-ever Liberty League Performer of the Week Honor earlier this season, thanks to earning fourth at the James Earley Invitational with a time of 18:32.75 over the 5k course.
She also earned All-Liberty League First Team accolades for her run at the Liberty League Championships, taking seventh overall. Her time of 22:29 was a personal-record at that moment, one she has since broken.
