POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (May 4, 2012) – Junior Kelly Holmes continues to blaze new territory on the track. On Friday evening at the Matthew Vassar Twilight Meet, Holmes won the 800 Meters in a blistering 2:10.06, the sixth best time in the country this season. That performance all but earned her a spot in the NCAA Division III Championships at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in late May.

The distance runners shined under the Weinberg Track lights on Friday night. Sophomore Aubree Piepmeier ran “lights out” in the 5000 Meters, setting a new school record (17:31.52), and qualifying for the ECAC Championships at RPI on May 17-18.

“Aubree was simply sensational tonight,” said head coach James McCowan. “It was the type of performance we knew she had in her, and she came through in a big way.”

Senior Elizabeth Forbes used a stellar third place finish in the 5000 Meters (18:28.52) to earn herself a prestigious spot at the ECACs.

The Brewers were particularly strong in the 5000 Meters, with freshman Viviane Ford finishing 5th (18:51.99), senior Hannah Ziobrowski in 6th (18:57.52) and senior Melissa McClung in 7th (19:01.11).

The 1500 Meter champion belonged to Vassar, as senior Erin Lefkowitz won the race in 5:04.00.

Junior Tiffany Marchell was a strong second to Holmes in the 800 Meters (2:20.14).

The 200 Meter Dash featured two school records in the same race, with a third place finish by freshman Ariel Bridges (26.05) and a 4th place finish by fellow freshman Heather Ingraham (26.07). In the 100 Meter Dash, that duo's finish was reversed with Ingraham finishing 3rd (12.67) and Bridges in 4th (12.75).

Indispensible senior Katy Hwang won both the 100 Meter Hurdles and 400 Meter Hurdles in 16.61 and 1:11.11 respectively.

The 3000 Meter Steeplechase featured a 2nd place finish from sophomore Chloe Williams (12:37.87).

The 4 x 400 Meter Relay took top honors (4:16.94) with freshman Nina Andersen, Lefkowitz, Marchell and Williams.
