Holmes Earns Third Straight League Performer of the Week Award

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (May 14, 2012) -- Junior Kelly Holmes of the Vassar College women's track team earned her third consecutive and season's fifth Liberty League Track Performer of the Week award on Monday.

After clocking the nation's sixth fastest time in the 800 Meters last weekend, junior Kelly Holmes shifted her attention to the 1500 Meters at the Oneonta State May Meet, claiming victory and a school record on Saturday. Holmes took first with a school record time of 4:39.07.

A nine-time Performer of the Week in her career, Holmes is the reigning Liberty League 800-meter Champion and NCAA Division III National Qualifier. She holds school records in the 800-meter and 1500-meter. A standout in cross country, she earned First Team All-Liberty League honors last season and twice earned Second Team All-Liberty League.

A 2009 graduate of Ridgefield High School, Holmes earned four letters in cross country. She was named All-Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (FCIAC) her junior year, and Second-Team All-FCIAC her sophomore and senior years. Holmes' high school team won FCIAC Championships twice, and was Connecticut class LL runner-up in 2006.
