MOBILE, AL (October 13, 2012) – Ava Sadeghi finished in eighth place at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Small College National Championships today.

This is Sadeghi's second eighth place finish in the national tournament and also her second year with All-American status in singles.

Sadeghi finishes the fall schedule with a singles record of 11-5. Her and Samantha Schapiro finished the season with a doubles record of 9-2 after the All-American pair finished in sixth place at the ITA National Championships yesterday.

“It is a remarkable achievement to win the regional titles and to get to this national tournament,” head coach Kathy Campbell said. This is the third time in Vassar history that players have qualified for the ITA fall nationals. It was also the first time a Vassar singles/doubles player(s) have won a match at this high-level of competition. “This was good experience for Ava and Sam and they can only get better as the year goes on,” Campbell said.

Sadeghi lost the seventh/eighth place match to Crystal Lim of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CA) in two sets 6-3, 6-1.
