Healing Named Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

Matthew Healing
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (August 15, 2011) -- Matthew Healing, who served as a volunteer assistant in 2009-10, returns to Vassar College as assistant men's basketball coach for the upcoming 2011-12 season, as announced Monday by fourth-year head coach Del Harris.

"I am very happy and excited to have coach Healing back at Vassar," said Harris. "His knowledge for the game, relationship with the players, and great work ethic brings a special component that I believe will help us elevate this program."

Healing joins Harris after spending last season as an assistant coach at Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ. A 2004 graduate of Monmouth University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication, Healing also served in the Centenary Athletics Department as the Assistant Sports Information Director.

In addition to collegiate coaching, Healing has worked basketball camps at the University of Pittsburgh (Hoop Group Jam Fest), Providence College (Hoop Group Jam Fest), Albright College (Hoop Group Elite), University of Albany (Gym Rat Challenge) and Marist College (Chuck Martin's Camp).

Prior to coaching at the collegiate level, Healing spent two seasons as the assistant varsity boy's basketball coach at Randolph High School.

Healing played basketball at Morris Catholic High School in Denville from 1996-2000.
