Vassar was led by junior captain Amy Bavosa, who registered a match-high nine kills to along with eight digs and two service aces. The closest of the three games was the first, in which the Brewers saw freshmen Rose Carman and Jesse Ditmore register their first collegiate kills. The Brewers were able to pull out to an 18-10 lead after a thunderous block from senior Julianna Simon and sophomore Christina Verdirame as well as back to back kills from McGuire. The Brewers were able to take advantage of Rutgers-Newark attack errors to take the first match 25-15, and that was as close as the Scarlet Raiders would get.
