Women's Tennis Moves Up to No. 17 in ITA National Team Rankings

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (May 3, 2010) -- After jumping five spots in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Team rankings, the Vassar College women's tennis team is now the No. 17 team in Division III, the program's best ranking since 2004 when it was also No. 17.

The Brewers, who were No. 22 in the prior national poll, moved ahead of Trinity College (TX), Washington University in St. Louis, University of Mary Washington, University of Redlands, Wheaton College (IL) -- all traditionally strong national level teams -- as well as Coe College and UW-Whitewater. The national ranking is out of 366 teams.

Vassar retained its No. 7 Northeast ranking out of 110 teams.

The Brewers won their eighth consecutive Liberty League Championship on April 25, and now wait to hear of their likely eighth consecutive NCAA Division III Championship selection, to be announced on May 10.
