Katy Hwang and freshman
Laura Van Eerde represented women's track and field as the Track Performer and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Michael Mattelson, Senior, Men's Tennis Performer of the Week
Mattelson improved his singles record to 19-4 and his doubles record to 13-2 with a pair of victories over No. 20th nationally ranked Trinty College. At No. 1 singles for No. 24 Vassar, Mattleson easily defeated Trinity's Spencer Feldman 6-4, 6-1. He then teamed with junior Max Wilner to defeat Trinty's Rich Bonfiglio/ Dan Couzens, 8-3. This is the eighth time Mattelson, in the midst of a spectacular senior season, has been named Performer of the Week.
Katy Hwang, Sophomore, Women's Track Performer of the Week
Hwang had a busy day for the Brewers at the Mount Holyoke Invitational on Saturday, turning in top-two finishes in three events. Hwang placed second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.98, and capped that with a first place finish in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:11.75. Hwang rounded out her day by placing second in the triple jump with a distance of 9.56 meters. This is the first career Liberty League honor for Hwang.
Laura Van Eerde, Freshman, Women's Track and Field Rookie of the Week
At the Mount Holyoke Invitational on Saturday, Van Eerde out-distanced a field of 15 to win the javelin throw with a new school record distance of 32.10. She also had a personal best in the discus with a distance of 27.46. This is the second consecutive week Van Eerde has been named Rookie of the Week.
