WORCESTER, MA (April 17, 2010) – Competing against three nationally ranked varsity 8 crews on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester on Saturday, the Vassar College women's rowing team performed well in a fifth place finish.
The varsity 8, comprised of senior captain
Christina Peltier (stroke),
Hannah Siebens (7 seat),
Alina von Korff (6 seat),
Caroline Jolley (5 seat),
Nicole Clark (4 seat),
Kamela Caschette (3 seat),
Kate Frost (2 seat),
Emma Russell (bow), and
Jessica Panico at coxswain, finished fifth in the 2000 meter course in 7:12.8, just one second behind Liberty League rival and No. 17-ranked Skidmore College (7:11.6). No. 3 ranked Bates College won the event in a time of 6:50.4 edging out No. 4 Trinity College (6:55.5) with Division I University of New Hampshire rounding out the top three in 7:01.9.
The second varsity 8 also competed, finishing fifth with a time of 7:53.6, again following Skidmore (7:27.1). The top three looked the same as well, with Bates in first with a time of 7:05.2, followed by Trinity (7:09.4) and UNH (7:19.7). The rowers in the second varsity 8 were

“The women rowed a strong race this weekend, improving upon last week's time and we're looking forward to putting together another strong performance at this coming weekend's Liberty League Championship,” said head coach Rodney Mott.
The league regatta will be hosted by Skidmore on Lake Saratoga on Saturday, April 24 beginning at 8:00 a.m.
