Box Score

AUBURNDALE, FL (March 16, 2010) – A tough fourth inning proved the difference for the Vassar College baseball team on Tuesday as the Brewers gave up seven runs in the inning, eventually falling 15-5 to Sewanee University in their second game at the RussMatt Invitational in Florida.

The Brewers fall to 0-2 and will look for their first win of the season against Salem State College at 3:30 p.m., also at the RussMatt Invitational.

The Tigers took the early lead with a run in the first and although the Brewers tied the score at a run apiece in the third, Sewanee responded with seven runs in the fourth to take the lead for good.

Sophomore Scott Allen took the loss for Vassar, pitching 3.2 innings, while junior Daniel Berkowitz, sophomore Zachary Prudoff and sophomore Race Bottini all pitched in relief. Errors plagued the Vassar defense, as the Brewers had six miscues on the day.

Vassar recorded just five hits, with freshman Michael Perrone going 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base.
