POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (February 13, 2010) – Ending the regular season on a high note, the Vassar College men's swim team earned a convincing victory at the four-team Vassar Sprint Invitational on Saturday at Kresge Pool.
The Brewers will conclude the season at the New York State Championships in Syracuse, NY on February 25-27. Vassar dominated the field with 258.5 points, followed by Skidmore College (170), SUNY Maritime College (106), and Elms College (101.5).
“Today was the perfect way to end the regular season,” said interim head coach Paul Kueterman. “They came in excited and energetic and swam fast which gives us great momentum heading into the state championships. They really came together as a team today.”
The Brewers bookended the meet with victories in the 200 Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay and picked up ten wins in between, taking first in 12 out of 16 events.
“This is a fun meet because there are a lot of events we don't normally get to do, and everyone was having a good time,” said Kuterman. “The atmosphere was incredible today, really positive and energetic.”
