Beauchamp Led the Liberty League in ground balls
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 30. 2009) -- Zach Beauchamp, a sophomore defender on Vassar's men's lacrosse team, has capped off a brilliant second season by earning Second Team All-Liberty League Honors as announced by the league today. Beauchamp improves on his freshman season, when he was named an Honorable Mention All-Liberty League selection.

Beauchamp was the Liberty League leader in ground balls with 110, a 7.33 per game average. He collected 36 of those ground balls during league lay, had 12 games with five or more ground balls and 10 or more ground balls five times.

Widely regarded as the top player on the Brewers' team, he covered the opposing teams top ball carrier on attack and also ran wings on face-offs and was one of the most aggressive and dominant on-ball defenders in the Liberty League.  He led the Brewers in caused turnovers with 40, including 23 in league play. 

Beauchamp is a 2007 graduate of Brophy Prep in Phoenix, AZ., where he earned four letters in lacrosse and was a three-time All-State selection. He helped lead Brophy Prep to the 2007 State Championship and earned Arizona Youth Lacrosse League honors three straight seasons.

Vassar concluded the 2009 season with a 6-9 record, setting a program record for single season victories. The Brewers finished the season with two straight victories, scoring 17 goals against SUNY Cobleskill and 16 against Cazenovia College.

Alex Tice
Men's Lacrosse
Tice set a new career best in saves when he recorded 17 in a tough 9-8 double overtime loss against Christoper Newport to conclude Spring Break games. Tice previously had recorded 16 saves as a sophomore goalie against Hamilton last March. For the 2-3 men's lacrosse team, Tice kept the Brewers close in a pair of overtime losses to Manhattanville and Christopher Newport, excelled in a 14-5 win over Medaille and shined in a hard-fought 9-6 loss to Alfred.
Sarah Warner
Women's Lacrosse
Warner started the 2010 season by scoring 10 goals with one assist in three Spring Break games. She scored four goals each against Bridgewater State and Drew and two against Simmons College. She scored the game winning goal against Drew and Simmons and placed 16 of her 21 total shots on goal. In her career, Warner has tallied four or more goals 10 times.
